Misreporting

Today i.e. on 29/11/09, Navbharat Times on p.7 says

Those born in Maharashtra don't require domicile certificate.

It is totally misleading and false reporting. What actually happened was this.

A lady applied for a job. The condition was that she should be domiciled in Maharashtra. The application did not say that she should attach the domicile certificate along with the application. She had already applied for it and had areceipt to this effect but was not granted till the date of submission of the application. When she was called for interview, her candidature was rejected on the ground that she had not attached the domicile certificate with her application. She went to Sate Administrative Tribunal which upheld her objection and allowed her appeal on the ground that attaching the domicile certificate was not a condition precedent to applying for the job.

Such reporting is utterly devoid of merit.
