Market Access Initiative scheme

The Market Access Initiative (MAI) scheme was launched in 2003 to act as a catalyst to promote India’s export on sustained basis. The scheme is formulated on Focus Product – Focus Country approach to evolve specific strategy for specific markets and specific products. Under the scheme, project-based assistance is provided to Export Promotion Councils, Trade Promotion Organizations, Apex Chambers of Commerce, etc. Details about the scheme are available at https://commerce.gov.in.

            During the Tenth Plan, a total expenditure of Rs.84.18 crore was incurred under this scheme. The scheme is being continued in the Eleventh Plan with approved allocation of Rs.550 crore.  Budget Estimates for the scheme for 2009-10 is Rs.124.00 crore.  The details of actual expenditure under the scheme during the period 2002-03 to 2008-09 are as under:
