Madras High Court ordered notice to Chairman of the Tamil Nadu-Pondichery Bar-Council on a Quo-Warranto petition questioning the authority under which R K Chandramohan has been holding the post.
When the petition came up for hearing before a Division Bench comprising Mr Justice F M Ibrahim Kalifulla and Ms Justice R Bhanumathi, the High Court registrar submitted a letter which was sent to it by Mr Justice R Regupathi regarding the alleged phone call made by a Union Minister to grant bail to a doctor and his son in a mark sheet fraud case in Puducherry.
After going through the letter submitted by the Registrar General, the Bench observed, there is a prima facie evidence in the petition, and the court was admitting the same.
The Bench also ordered notice to All India Bar Council and directed it to file its counter within four weeks.
A quo-warranto writ petition questioning the authority by which R K Chandramohan was holding the post of Chairman of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry was filed in the Madras High Court by an Advocate Elephant G Rajendran.
