Lok adalats

It's a good option for speedy resolution but only if both the parties agree for it and renders it of not much help as in friends case matter is lingering for 10 yrs and opposite party is not agreeing due to ulterior motives. What to do?

Quick Summary
Lok Adalats offer a path to quick justice, but their effectiveness hinges on mutual agreement between parties. If one side refuses, as in a 10-year-old case, the process can stall. While Lok Adalats can proceed even without full participation, a lack of consensus might lead the matter back to regular courts. Seeking legal counsel from a Mumbai advocate experienced in Lok Adalats may be necessary.

If there is no consensus arrived in the lok adalat settlement mediation session, then the mediators may revert the matter back to the regular court.

You cannot do anything about it other than contesting the case in the court

Lok Adalat has powers to decide the case even in the case other party did not participate in proceeding.
