The complaints filed under the Information Technology Act could be investigated by an officer not below the rank of Dy.Superintendent of Police/Circle Officer earlier. But now this condition has been relaxed under some rulings of some High Court and the investigation/further investigation under Section 173 (8) of Cr.P.C.can be held by any officer not below the rank of Inspector/SHO/Incharge, Police Station. If so, I need the citation of such ruling or any other provision made in the State of UP or elsewhere.
