Inquiry after retirement/ up government

I retired from the post of Director Medical Health Uttar Pradesh in 2007. After 9 years of retiring, the the Economic Offences Wing of CID Department has opened an inquiry into certain alleged irregularity in purchase of medicines while I was working as Chief medical officer in a district in years 2004-05 and 2005-06. Please advise if the Governement can conduct an inquiry after more than 8-9 years of retirement ?

yes, as such nothing wrong in holding inquiry. As such there is no restriction nor bar.

Yes department may pursue if there is any illegality there is no time bar.
