In India, the copyright protection for original literary, dramatic, musical, and artistic works is generally for the author's lifetime plus 60 years after the author's death.

This ensures that the creator's work is protected and that their heirs or assigned rights holders continue to benefit from it for a significant period

However, if a work is published anonymously or pseudonymously, the copyright lasts for 60 years from the beginning of the calendar year that follows the year of publication.

If the author's identity is revealed before the copyright expires, the copyright lasts for 60 years from the beginning of the calendar year that follows the year of the author's death

Copyright laws vary by country, but generally: 1. After publication: Copyright typically lasts for a certain number of years after publication, usually between 50 to 100 years, depending on the jurisdiction. 2. After the author's death: In most countries, copyright lasts for a certain number of years after the author's death, typically between 50 to 100 years. This is often referred to as the "post-mortem" or "death plus" period. In India, where Lawyersclubindia.com is based: 1. After publication: Copyright lasts for 60 years from the date of publication (Section 24, Copyright Act 1957). 2. After the author's death: Copyright lasts for 60 years from the date of the author's death (Section 24, Copyright Act 1957). In the United States: 1. After publication: Copyright lasts for 95 years from publication for works published before 1978, and for works published after 1978, it lasts for the life of the author plus 70 years (Title 17, United States Code). 2. After the author's death: Copyright lasts for the life of the author plus 70 years for works created after 1978 (Title 17, United States Code). Please note that these are general guidelines and that specific laws may vary.
