When a car is in front of you it is your duty to take care by applying standard of care and safety of the road. You are aware that any car in front of you may stop suddenly for one reason or the another, and it is your duty to stop and the duty of the car behind you to stop also. My car too have been hit from behind when I suddenly stop on a sharp bend to allow a Gigantic Arny car to pass through on a road measuring 9 feet only, and the car behind me could not stop and hit my car but luckily with just a ignorable scratch on my car. It is always good to keep a good distance from a car in front of you.

By not  maintaining the required distance from one car to another while speeding in the road is the fault of the car which followed the car in its front.  Therefore it clearly is your mistake.
