Himachal Pradesh: Video conference facility in state courts

To facilitate speedy disposal of court cases, the Himachal Pradesh government has decided to introduce video conferencing in the District Courts of Kullu, Dharamshala, Shimla and Mandi.

‘Sub-Jail at Bilaspur, District Jail at Dharamsala, Central Jail at Shimla and Modern Central Jail at Nahan would soon be provided with video conference facilities,’ HP Law Minister J P Nadda said while addressing the Chief Ministers and Chief Justices conference here today.

He said all procedural and codal formalities have been made in this direction, adding that video conferencing would be installed in these complex in minimum possible time.

The Law Minister said adequate steps had been taken for modernisation and computerisation of the courts and added that effective steps had also been taken for enhancing the use of the IT in the judicial work.

The Registrar of the Himachal High Court has taken up the matter of providing the facilities of Internet usage, e-mail based communications, electronic dissemination of information and use of digital signature with the e-committee of the Supreme Court, added the Law Minister.
