Gym refund

Dear all,

A couple months ago, I took a membership in a well known gym with the understanding that the gym will start in June.

With recent events such as the lockdown, I realised that I would need a refund because it would take a good 5-6 months for the gym to start running.

I called the gym and they shut down my plea for a refund by citing a section of their contract that said I cannot get a refund unless due to permanent disability.
The current situation is unprecedented, and completely new, is there anyway I can get a refund?
