Geographical Indiactions

Dear members,

I wanted to know whether basmati rice is protected under the Geographical Indications Act?

Can anyone name a few of the products protected under the said Act

I think so. To my knowledge other products are kolapuri slippers, Darjeeling tea, pochampally sarees etc.

How far is the awareness among people in India about GI. I think the Government failed miserably in spreading awareness among people about registration of GI and its uses.
