Greetings!

Thank you for your question.

Forensic science is the application of science in answering the law related questions. They employ techniques and tools to interpret crime scene evidence, to use it in investigations.

Types of forensic evidences that are used during an investigation are-

  1. Trace evidence- wherever an object or person has contacted other object or persons, some signs are left behind. For example- fingerprints, tire evidence, footprint etc.
  2. Biological evidence- wherever there is bodily fluid or human or animal remains. For example- blood, semen, hair etc.
  3. DNA evidence- DNA test is highly effective due to their uniqueness. It can be used to establish parentage, detect crimes and identify mutilated dead corpses.
  4. Ballistic evidence- Ballistics is the study of firearms and the path a bullet takes during flight.

Section 45 and Section 46 of Indian evidence Act has given that court whenever required will take opinion of a person skilled in a that relevant field.

The court will rely on the bona fide statement of proof given by the expert concluded on the basis expert skills and techniques.

Hope this answers your question.
