Dowry

What is the most appropriate definition of dowry according to which judgements take place?

Quick Summary
This discussion delves into the legal definition of dowry, particularly how it's interpreted in Indian court judgements. It highlights the Supreme Court's stance in Himachal Pradesh v. Nikku Ram & Ors., which established that dowry demands can occur before, during, or after marriage. The conversation also points to Section 2 of the Dowry Prohibition Act as a crucial reference for understanding the legal framework.
