consideration receipt

Hello good afternoon, my father who has been expired has borrowed 1 lac from one of his friend.. when we asked for proof of that borrowed amount he is showing consideration receipt of that borrowed amount dated 1996.. My father has not given us even a single rupee out of it till now.. can anybody guide us, how to deal with this case legally..
