Clarrification

In civil suit OS The remarks made by the learned judge are as follows after and Affidavit was submitted by one of the respondant IA pending next hearing 19/2/2020 Apperance petition,returned . what does it mean by these terms Does petition,returned means the Affidavit given by respondant not accepted or the copy of the Affidavit given to platiff returned without counter .or returned . The case was earlier stated as exparte evidence and then respondant filed an Affidavit
