Cheque bounce endorsement

If partial amount of cheque is received, what do we need to write at the back of the cheque before presenting it to bank? As per supreme court, we need to endorse it otherwise section 138 is not attracted. Is this true?

what amount do I fill on the bank slip? the whole amount of cheque or the amount remaining not received

If you have endorsed a amount in the cheque, you may write the same amount in the challenged also.
