can a notice be served to the respondent in MC case without giving CCnumber?

Petitioner has filed MC in the court ,but the CC number is not been alloted, but petitioner is attending to court for calls, petitioner's lawyer is saying that summons will be served to respondent , eventhough cc number is not given to the case, this MC case petition has been filed since 8 months back.
