Quick Summary
Bribery, as defined under Section 171B of the Indian Penal Code, encompasses several key elements. These include the acceptance or giving of gratification to influence electoral rights, rewarding someone for exercising such rights, or attempting to induce others to do so. The law also covers offering, agreeing to give, or procuring gratification. Bribery is defined under Section 171 B of the Indian Penal Code.

It includes:

1.acceptance or giving a gratification to any person with the object of inducing him or any other person to exercise any electoral right

2. rewarding any person for having exercised any such right; or accepting it as a reward for exercising any such right

3.  inducing or attempting to induce any other person to do so.

It includes offering, agreeing to give or attempting to procure gratification.

I hope it helps.

Section 171 B of IPC defines Bribery with respect to the offences relating to Elections.

You may also read and refer to Section 7 of the Prevention of the Corruption Act, 1988.
