Bank Fine

I want to close my bank account .but bank is not accepting my application. bank says that you have not maintained your account so you will have to pay 2200/-.Then only we will close the account. what are the legal reamidies for me.

Quick Summary
If you're facing issues closing your bank account and the bank is demanding a fee for not maintaining it, you have legal recourse. Banks may charge fees if minimum balance requirements aren't met. It's advisable to consult the bank manager to resolve this. You might also consider withdrawing your balance or transferring it to another account before formally closing it. Ignoring bank messages without a sufficient balance could lead to future trouble, so proactive communication is key.

Banks often waive their fee if you keep a minimum amount in your account or meet other requirements such as linking checking and savings accounts. Some banks may require a minimum balance and may charge a fee if you drop below it.So better consult bank manager for redress your grievances.

If you have ATM you may withdraw the total balance and later intimate the bank to close the account.

You may transfer the balance amount through to another account. Bank can't dishonour the cheque if sufficient balance lying in account.
