Arrest in ipc 498a

FIR was registered under section 498A IPC and DP 3 and 4. Can the police arrest in 498A cases.what is the present position of law.

Without formal inquiry and in absence of prima facie evidence and without directions from higher authority, the investigating officer can not take law into his hands under 498A.  Your local advocate can guide you in avoiding such illegal arrests if any.

This surely does not mean that there can be noarrest at all.
