Access to road

Hi

Our house in Tamilnadu is bounded by common road on north and south sides, We have the main entrance on the north side facing the road and have a compound wall on the south side. Now, we want to have a car parking at the backyard so  we want to open part of the compound wall on the south side and install a gate so that we can bring the car through the south side road and park in our backyard.

Do I need to check for anything legally here or since it is a public road I am fine to proceed?

Thanks

Regards

Prabakaran

Quick Summary
A homeowner in Tamil Nadu is seeking advice on creating a new entrance from a public road on the south side of their property to access their backyard for car parking. They currently have an entrance on the north side. The primary concern is whether any legal checks are required before opening a section of the compound wall and installing a gate. The initial advice suggests that as long as the new access does not obstruct public or vehicular movement, it should be permissible.

Unless and until the proposed passage to be opened now doesn't cause any hurdle to the public movement or cause hurdles to the vehicular movements you may not face any problem in this regard.
