In response to your query,

Section 304B in The Indian Penal Code-

(1) When a woman dies from burns or bodily injury within seven years of her marriage, and it is proven that she was subjected to cruelty or harssment by her husband or any relative of her husband for, or in connection with, any demand for dowry, such death is referred to as "dowry death," and such husband or relative is deemed to have caused her death. Explanation.— "Dowry" has the same meaning in this subsection as it has in section 2 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961. (28 of 1961).
(2) Whoever commits dowry death shall be imprisoned for a term of not less than seven years but not more than life.
