Procedure for Obtaining Driving Licence in Arunachal Pradesh

Eligibility

Indian citizens of age 18 years or above

Concerned Authority

District Transport Offices (DTOs) located at each District HQ

Procedure

Prior to the issue of a driving licence(DL), the learner?s licence (LL) is issued. To avail the learner's licence, one has to apply to the DTO in the prescribed format (Form No 2), along with Medical Certificate-A-1,2(B), Age certificate, 2 passport-sized photographs, permanent and present address with proof such as Election Card/Ration Card/I.D card issued by the concerned department or telephone and electricity bill/PRC/Class-X passing certificate. The fee is also to be submitted. A signal test is held before issuing of LL.

After holding the Learners Licence for 6 months, he/she is eligible to apply for effective driving licence using Form No. 4 and submit LL and fee. The class of vehicle for which a DL is applied for should be brought for the driving test. The driving test is conducted on every last working day of the month. After the practical driving test, viva-voce on traffic signals and road safety is held.

Documents Required

  • Medical certificate-A-1, 2(B).
  • Age certificate.
  • Permanent and present address with proof such as Election Card/Ration Card/I.D card issued by the concerned department or telephone and electricity bill/PRC/Class-X passed Certificate.
  • 2 passport sized photographs.
  • For LL, Form No. 2 and for DL, Form No. 4 are required.
  • For issue of DL, LL has to be enclosed.

Fee

  • Rs.30/- towards learner's licence to be deposited through Treasury Challan (H/A-0041 MV Tax) for every class of vehicle
  • Rs.150/- towards driving licence to be deposited through Treasury Challan (H/A-0041 MV Tax)
  • Rs.50/- towards testing charges of each class of vehicle for which driving licence is applied for, through Treasury Challan (H/A-0041 MV Tax)

The forms are sold at the Deputy Commissioner's office. However, these are also available at the Papumpare District Website: http://papumpare.nic.in/forms.htm (External website that opens in a new window). Online submission of forms is not possible. Signed copy of the application is required for processing.
