Men have lost their powers of dissent and discussion and often digress into hounding the opposite gender. Conditioned with a lifetime of ingrained masculinity, the reply of the privileged class is often a hypersensitive doleful howl.

The expressions of disagreement form a silhouette around threats of assault, rape and murder.

Deliberations, reasonings and rationality have paved the way for more rapid action with a desirable termination.

The most recent incident of the million abuses hurled at women, is the case of stand-up comedian, Agrima Joshua.

She is known to have taken a jibe at the Quora users commenting on the statue of ‘Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj’.

The mere mention of the statue ruffled the feathers of ShubhamMisra who menaced the comedian by creating a video.

The video was then brought to the notice of Home Minister of Maharashtra Anil Deshmukh, who instructed the police to carry out an investigation and take a quick action.

The accused was charged and arrested under sections, 294 (obscenity), 504(intentionally insults to break public places), 505 (statements conducing to public mischief), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (intention to outrage modesty of a woman) under Indian Penal Code, 1860 and section 67 of Information Technology Act 2000 ( Transmission of electronic media which is lascivious or tends to deprave or corrupt people).

The multitude of people pillared the cause of Joshua that led the authorities to apprehend Misra.

Many such episodes of anguish faced by women slip out from time to time, baring the nakedness of patriarchy.

Be it the famous actress, DeepikaPadukone, Human Rights activist and Senior Advocate, Indira Jaisingh, the lawyer fighting for the rights of the Kathua rape victim or the photo Journalist RanaAyub, all have met the same fate atleast once in their life.

It is no more about a woman’s “short” dress, her “modern” thoughts, her “wagging” tongue or “vibrant” smile that incites a man to hail such abuses. Today, the threat game is more evolved and invites remarks at the simple presence of a woman.

As she climbs the social and professional ladder, her success gradually lacerates through a man’s toxic virility.

"Revenge is a confession of pain."
