problem with police verification for employment

(Querist) 04 July 2015 This query is : Resolved
Respected sir/madam,
My name is maruthi prasad. I resigned from Indian navy whilst training as officer cadet within 15 days of joining due to personal reasons. I was not given any discharge / relieving letter for the same.
Now I got employment.in BANK OF BARODA as PO and police verification came for the same . now they are asking what is proof that u didn't run from navy but resigned .. I told them I can give a written letter with all details of my batch no roll no for them to verify with navy. Should that be enough .. Will I be rejected my hard earned employment. Please give your suggestions. It will mean a lot morally. Thanx in advance

Letter of acceptance of resignation by the competent authority of the Navy can only be the authentic proof of your resignation. Try to get that from the Indian Navy authorities.

That is not provided to anybody sir when withdrawn whilst training. It is only given once you pass and confirmed as an officer acceptance and relieving letter not to us.

The question arises, unless officially relieved with formal orders, how you could get relieved even from training?

See if that is procedure they r following what can I or anyone who resigned do sir .. They never give .. So will my self declaration or an affadavit do .. They can always confirm with the navy with my details right

If you have submitted the written resignation and submitted it on counter/in person under proper acknowledgment with seal/date/diary number then produce it

Or if you have submitted it thru Redg. Post then obtain the POD from PO (free of cost) and certified copy of runs sheet of postman (against a fee of Rs10/-). In such case if you have these documents no one would like to lie as PO/Sept. of Post can also sue the recipient.

Or submit RTI application that your resignation was duly received.

Or satisfy the bank as acceptable to it.

If you had deserted from Navy, they would have informed Police. The Police are overreaching the assigned task in verifying the antecedents.

Receive the information through RTI from Navy. Agree with the expert P. Venu.

You have posted that:

"now they are asking what is proof that u didn't run from navy but resigned .."

1. You have not made it clear who has asked it: Bank or Police?

2. Whoever has asked it is
, as per your own post, to provide evidence that you resigned.

3. You may generate evidence of having resigned.

4. Asking, telling, saying, etc are verbal modes of communication that is not on record. Therefore you should ideally minute everything in writing under proper acknowledgment, including whatever is asked/said/told to you and whatever is told/said by you.

5. You should also check if anything else can also be wanted from you and prepare accordingly.

Thank you all sirs .. I think RTI is the best option I have filed for a copy of relieving letter or any document showing my dicharge or relieving from the navy

You had posted that:

---"now they are asking what is proof that u didn't run from navy but resigned .."

Only one thing was asked from you and that did you resign?

Copy of resignation, proof of dispatch and delivery could have sufficed.

You could have limited your effort to that only.

Let us assume that Navy responds that you have not been discharged/relieved and even adds that you deserted then what is your choice?

Did you at all consult a lawyer before you acted on your own?
