The Bank can give the said amount to any of the legal heirs if the others give their no objection and on furnishing of indemnity bond. If that is not the situation then you have to obtain Succession Certificate from the District Delegate.

Obtain a succession certificate and apply to the bank and thereafter you can draw/distribute the money amongst all legal heirs.

you have to file a probate and succession case. Revenue officer is not authorized to issue succession certificate. The competent civil court has got power to issue succession certificate. the certificate issued by the revenue officer is survivors certificate.
Always banks ask for the succession certificate issued by the competent civil courts.

If there is nominee for the account, then no problem.
Apply for Succession certificate from Competent Court and the same is to be produced before Bank for getting the amount

If the amount is small say less than Rs. 50,000 then the banks would not insist on succession certificate as per the RBI guidelines. An affidavit and an undertaking would be sufficient. If the amount is large, then succession certificate is essential. Nominee can be paid the amount if there is no objection from the other legal heirs.

You meet the bank officers and ask the formality.Normally formalities depends upon the amount and the Bank..Death certificate, legal heir certificate or succession certificate are necessary documents. For succession certificate you want to approach Court and for Legal heir certificate approach V.O .
