correction in birth date

Dear sir,
I am pavan kumar,
my birth date which was informally told by someone at school then continuing till today on doc. is different.
If I prove it that actual date is different then present one by some govt documents then may I get changed now. As it may affects my benefits in future.

Not clear

who gave wrong DOB to school?
why he gave wrong DOB?
what benefit you got due to wrong DOB?
at what stage of career you are?
how correct date of birth is figuring?
whether correct DOB will render you ineligible for sitting in exams you appeared in past and the job which you got?

As per my conscience no benefits has been taken............The birth date was given by grand father verbally , he is no more ......Actual date is different in govt records...

at the time of admission of a child signature of the guardian is taken. So no verbal recording by grandfather is there.
