Cancellation of register marriage

My friends got married 2 month ago. This was a love marriage hidden from the parents. Under pressure from the parents they now regret the decision taken under emotional stress.
After approaching a lawyer, they were advised to go for an annulment stating.
annulment process take how much time?
there is any other option to canceled register marriage?

No process for cancellation of marriage registration and even otherwise the registration of marriage even if gets cancelled that will not make the marriage null and void. To get the annulment of marriage, right forum is the Family Court and right procedure is to file for annulment of marriage on the provided ground whichever is applicable to the case. The earliest way to get the annulment is if one party files petition for it and the other party doesn't defend it and let ex-parte proceedings and order be passed nullifying the marriage.
