Adultery

I read somewhere that only men get punishment for adultery not women. I want to understand this, why women shouldn't get punishment for adultery? What law thinks about adultery? Thanks in advance.

Women are immune to adultery charges. This is a legal fiction which presupposes that the woman is incapable of independent and rational thought, and hence is always treated as a victim.....

With due respect rajendra K goyal and Dr J C Vashista sorry for not putting my words right. Actually I read it on social media that law has some double standards against men a man can be punished but a woman can't be for the same Crime
