This issue is under controversy since a long whether the charges of electricity from the working office of the professionals especially lawyers and chartered accountants should be recovered as per domestic or commercial usage.

Latest dictum is that the professional do not form a special category in the society and they do not deserve any exemption from commercial charges accordingly so you are required to apply for the commercial meter for your office maintained in your house.

The electricity supplier company in state is usually clear on tariff charges.

If dictum is @ commercial and available with supplier also then there is no reason to delay and pay @ commercial.

Approach the concerned electricity department, may use RTI to get information.
