What was the contractual period of service, as formally approved by the competent authority in the contract agreement or if extended?

Have not you addressed the competent authority for issue of a relieving letter and an experience letter to you. If asked, what is the response of the employer? If not you may write a letter to the concerned qwuthority to issue you the said documents.

You have the need to pursue the matter by formal reminders, not to rely merely on verbal dicussions.

Unless the employer denies in writing to issue relieving letter or experience letter, there cannot be considered any legal problem.

Nothing to be added.

Service certificate is issued to all employees.

Relieving letter signifies that employee has separated and nothing is pending against employee.

It has become a trend by preference of employers and is required to remain employable.

Request for these in writing under proper acknowledgment.

Offer letter/appointment letter, salary slips of all months, notice of resignation/acceptance,PF a/c slips,ESIC card, FnF statement,Form16 etc can be as good.

Obtain all of these.

Though subsequent employer may not be in need of such letter but the same is required for many purposes like showing successful experience, no dues, relationship with a particular employer and so on including EPF & GIS withdrawals etc.

Insist upon the previous employer to do the needful at the earliest.
