Hello Experts,
I a Lawyer, actually i have a query regarding name change.
As i have a client he is a Muslim and he wants to change his Muslim Name to a Hindu Name. Now the point for consideration is his parents had a love marriage (his father is a Muslim & mother is Hindu). So now he says he wants to change his name to Hindu as his present name is Mohd. Ali and wants to change it to Santosh Kumar.
So to change his name do he has to change his religion, coz as of now he follows both the religion.
Need your suggestions.

for change of name: You have to submit application for name of change District Collector and Magistrate in a prescribed proforma. so consult in local revenue authorities for change of name. for change of religion it does not require permission.

Get the fact published in two (one national and one local) news paper. Get it published in official gazette.

I'm glad with your suggestions experts, but my question is not yet resolved, as i said the person is a Muslim man with a Muslim name and he wants to change his name to a Hindu name as his mother is a Hindu and father is a Muslim. So need advice on this issue, coz if he was a Hindu then its a simple process to give a paper advertisement and later on it can published in the official Gazette, but here the situation is different.
