Police are not taking necessary steps after registration of fir for cheating

(Querist) 28 August 2015 This query is : Resolved
police has not done any thing after registration of fir withs ections 420,181,182,193,199,200,406,417,423,34 which is supported with documentary evidences.
my query is
1.police registered my fir only after my almost long 2 years continuous follow up in my written criminal complaint against buider for cheating ,fraud, forgery, false information given on oath in deed of declaration, by showing more built up area than the actual in agreement and providing less built up area in actual .
but even after registration of fir they have not taken ,even after almost 1month, steps for introgation of accused nor arrested him even when conclusive evidences are on record and in absence of any denial from the builder.
3 what steps are available to me for avoidance and delay tactics played by IO after registration of fir
4.what is the time limit within which police are suppose to record statement of accused and take necessary legal actions?is their any time limit?whether the delay by police is purposely made to help the accused the easy bail?
what follow up i should take to speed up the matter.
whether there is any time limit within which inquiry by police must be completed and charge sheet must be filed?
thanks in advance

dear tej, police is required to file the charge sheet within 90 days from the date of FIR. check out with the police about the filing of charge sheet. Recording of statement of accused u/s 161 depends upon police discretion. no time limit, it is better to engage a lawyer who can advise you after perusing your documents

Given the state of affairs, it would be advantageous if you proceed against builder in the consumer forum as well.

thanks experts
whether i can check status of my fir online? is it not mandatory for police to complete charge sheet at earliest as for almost 2 years the police sat on my criminal complaint and avoided to register my fir when my criminal complaint is suported with pin pointed conclusive documents such as onsite panchnama carried out by court commissioner appointed in common consumer complaint and conclusions of court commissioner report which has attained finality .and also the other documentry evidences filed by me on record establishes each of the charge against the accused builder on face of record thus primafacie is proved on face of record .even then the police are delaying the matter. i have also applied under RTI for inspection of record from date of fir till this date in respect of my FIR but till now i have not received any reply from Public Information Officer .
