Rent control

(Querist) 19 July 2013 This query is : Resolved
sir,
my father_in_law have a rented shop since 1970, and the owner was not taking rent and father_in_law filed a case n he won the case and he is depositing the rent in court and the landlord have filed a eviction suit which is now on cross_examination stage and we heard that landlord sold the property where that shop is located
now i want to know in what way this sale would effect that eviction suit and are there any chances that the case would be dismissed

The new landlord can continue the case. But you have not said for what reason the landlord has filed case against your father-in-law to vacate. If it is for his personal bonafide requirement of the premises, then new landlord cannot use that reason in the case and will ultimately fail in the eviction suit.

Agree, nothing more to add.

You need to mention name of state where the shop is located.

Also you need to tell if it is covered under
some rent Act of the state?
