Regarding marriage law

(Querist) 13 November 2012 This query is : Resolved
Hi i want to marry a girl who is
my mother's-> cousin sister's-> step daughter .

I read about hindu marriage act section5. according to point 5 under this section (v) the parties are not sapindas of each other, unless the custom or usage governing each of them permits of a marriage between the two.

as per my understanding, sapindas are someone who is offspring but the girl is step daughter of my mother's cousin sister.

Can someone please let me know if this is possible by the LAW?

In my opinion marriage with your mother's cousin sister's step daughter is prohibited because in relation she is your sister.

Just check list of Prohibited relationship [37]
If no blood relation/ step daughter, verify, do it fit in those slot??

The relationship you told do not come within the ambit of prohibited relationship and both bride and groom can openly come for marriage with each other in the given case.

Thank you Mr. Raj Kumar ji. But when I am reading Marriage act section 5 with section 3 (definitions) its a bit confusing.

from section 5 "the parties are not sapindas of each other".

From section 3 relationship definition by half blood / adoption.

Can you please clarify???
