do we need so many "I agree"

(Querist) 16 December 2010 This query is : Resolved
I have seen in many answers by expert giving one word answers like, Yes or I agree.

It would be better to express any different opinions than adding i agree/yes.

I think the point system is the villain.

Just imagine,if all the experts in this forum starts adding,,I agree/Yes to all the answers, how boring an act it becomes?>

Hope all such exports take this remark from a fellow expert in the panel in right spirit and act

Dear Mr. Mahendrakumar,
I do not know whether I should say "I agree with you" to this comment or not - because by saying "I agree" probably I may be committing the same error which you are wishing to eliminate in this Expert Area.

I know there is a saying "If two agree all the time - one is not necessary" and if two are at loggerheads all the time both are not necessary.

I cannot agree more with you.

I fully support the reply of Mr.P.Ramachandran, I have nothing to add more.

Many friends do it and I have already put my opinion many times that there should be reasoned response may be defferent or even opposing than I AGREE , I CONCUR ETC ETC.

Merely adding no of inputs does not help.

I love contributors who oppose since it adds depth to real knowledge., instead of routine agree , agree and agree.

We are discussing issues in an interactive forum thus liking or disliking of answers or opinion does not arise, every expert or contributor is free to express its views in the words he like.

If one of the expert had given a detailed reply, it is necessary the other experts also to give the same reply if they agree. Only if they differ they will give a detailed reply.

I agree is having its own value.

This aspect which I have been orchestrating for the last 10 months has again taken rebirth. I had the support of only Mr.Ramu and now Mr.Mahendra Kumar. I like the words "Point System is the Villain". It amply reflects the fact that if all such stereo-type telegraphic replies like Yes, No, Agreed, Do, As above, etc are removed from the list (ADMN to note)of any query the said point system will have substance and meaning in this section. (Many stand to loose at least 500 to 1000 points) Value Addition to the points deliberated and put forth by your predecessor in the thread is the need of the hour. Since it is good eye-opener to many of our brethren let us swear that such unhealthy YES menace is totally eradicated in any public forum. Afterall, every deserves to reserve their own opinion on any legal issues in any public domain.

If A QUESTION NEEDS YES OR NO ANSWER THEN EXPERT IS OBLIGE TO GIVE THAT ANSWER ONLY.IF BOTH THE EXPERT HAVING SAME ANSWER THEN, "AGREE" IS ONLY NEEDED THERE.TIME LIMIT IS ALSO A FACTOR FOR GIVING SHORT ANSWER.

An expert is expected to go through each and every query sincerely and devotedly,if true service is to be rendered. While doing so, if he finds that a reply has been properly given, he can endorse such a view as a token of his having read the same. This will instil a sense of confidence in the mind of the author of the query. If an expert is not to make such an endorsement, how can the author know asto how many experts have gone through his query and applied their minds to it and opined. It is an objective exercise beyond any comments. Even among experts, how many can know that their opinions have been read by other experts without such endorsements. Mere points are going to add to the glory of any expert since all are well established in the field and doing this only as a service to the society. Do not attempt to degrade them by thinking that things are being done only for earning points, which is totally immaterial. If it discouraged, many experts will prefer to keep silent after reading the opinions and not make any endorsements on them. This will deprive the authors of their legitimate rights to know the minds of as many experts as possible.

I agree with Mr.SS!

Exceptions are always there in any issue. However participants in any query including the author long for value additions in response to replies already posted. Data base Administrators can fire a single select query to find as to how many telegraphic queries have occupied this section which has resulted in resolving the query. Though endorsements add weight-age to replies, it hardly serves any purpose to improve the law literacy level of even active practitioners leave alone part-timers like me. Instead chains of "Yes" replies emanate as a bandwagon needlessly occupy the space in the database. However we can technically address to the points spelt out by Shri S.S.Sir. Any web-designer can modify the expert section to add an option alongside the reply itself when concurrence is offered by another expert who does not contradict the opinion. ADMN can explore this choice to augment value addition to this section.

Number of Reply by expert assures the contributor that his querry viewed and considered by so many law knowing persons and majority of viewer support a particular opinion. The same process will help the contributor to follow the advice. On the other hand if only one reply posted there may be a possibility that none exccept one viewed the querry and it will be difficult to form a confirmed opinion by the contributor to follow the only opinion posted in the space.
