It would lead to deliberate disobedience of the judges order, hence he has to present himself for mediation or else the court can take action against him.

Mediation is optional and not compulsory/ mandatory. No court can compel. What does your lawyer advise, why are you so curious to have a cross-check? Consult him/her and proceed as advised/ guided by your counsel.
