1. A relinquishment deed without any consideration can be made out and registered with the sub-registrar. Contact a local advocate for such purpose.
Anirudh (Expert) 27 November 2014
1. First one has to be sure whether it is 'ancestral property' or not. There is utter confusion and misunderstanding in the minds of many about 'ancestral property'. Many persons think that since the property was first owned by the grand father it is ancestral. THAT IS NOT AT ALL CORRECT.

2. If it is really 'ancestral' then one can only simply relinquish his interest without specifying any particular beneficiary. Therefore, if it is ancestral property, then you cannot specifically relinquish in favour of your younger sister or any particular person.

Agree with the expert Anirudh ji.

agree with MR Anirudh
T. Kalaiselvan, Advocate (Expert) 01 December 2014
While agreeing to the views of expert Mr.Anirudh, like to add that if it is really an ancestral property, the share of property intended to gift or relinquish, if it is involving further division in the hands of the co sharer, to his children, especially involving minor's interest, the said relinquishment cannot be made towards the entire share of the property.
