Guest (Querist) 31 August 2016 This query is : Resolved
Respected Experts,

I am having some dispute with one of my friend. A few days back he told me that he came to know that I got a transfer in my account on 06/08/2016 which is all CORRECT!!
Can Someone please advise me how to proceed against the Bank for leaking this information since Banks are Custodian for our valuables and informations.
I will be highly obliged.
Thanks

Banks cannot disclose any information of account-holder unless any statutory authority directs so to do. The banker has done wrong if it has violated its own rule.

You can not only can claim damages by filing a civil suit or consumer complaint but can also lodge a complaint against the banker to Banks Ombudsman so as to take departmental action against the erring officials.

Have you any proof that Bank has disclosed information of your account? It would be difficult to prove.

I have written proof of my friend who accepted that...

In that case you have merits.

Banks are under obligation to maintain confidentiality and secrecy.

If so try to get out the name of person who leaked the information. Officially Bank does not leak such information. If you are able to get the name of responsible employee, lodge his complaint with the Bank.

Its a case of Criminal breach of contract.
Consult an experienced Criminal lawyer dealing in banking matters for redressal of your genuine grievances in proper forum.
