The CBI today informed the Delhi High Court that it has filed chargesheets in 30 matters out of a total of 90 linked to the allotment of land to co-operative group housing societies in the housing scam case. Submitting a fresh status report before the Division Bench of Justice Manmohan Sarin and Justice Veena Birbal, CBI counsel Harish Gulati said that CBI was waiting for sanction from the government in 28 complaints, documents were awaited in 25 and the agency found no criminality involved in 3 other complaints. Gulati told the court that the CBI would complete the investigation in all 252 complaints by 31st May. Taking suo motu cognisance over the allegation that a racket was going on as some housing societies, mostly in Dwaraka area, have been registered in fake names in connivance with the officials from DRCGHS, the Delhi High Court had directed the CBI to probe into the matter. Former registrar N Diwakar, middle man S P Saxena and some other government officials have been booked for allegedly manipulating some existing housing societies and registering new societies in fake names.
