The Madras High Court today granted conditional anticipatory bail to a doctor and his son in connection with the mark sheet fudging case filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Justice M Jeyapaul granted the bail to Dr C Krishnamurthy and his son Kiruba Sridhar, on the condition that they should produce a surety of Rs one lakh each.
The Judge also imposed a condition that the father-son duo should appear before the CBI twice a day and that they should stay in Chennai.
Earlier, when the case came up for hearing on July 15, the Judge had reserved the orders for today.
The case was posted before Justice Jeyapaul after Justice R Regupathi, who was earlier hearing the case, made a startling revelation in the open court that a Union Minister had tried to influence him in the case and requested the Registry to place the matter before the Chief Justice for posting before another Judge.
The prosecution case was that the doctor, and his son, studying in a private medical college in the Union Territory of Puducherry, were wanted in connection with the manipulation of the answersheet of Kiruba Sridhar in the Ophthalmology examination in the Third-year MBBS course to ensure his success in the exam.
