A delegation of Indian Bar Council, led by its chairman Suraj Narayan Prasad Sinha, appreciated the initiatives taken by Gujarat to implement qualitative changes for expediting justice delivery system, especially the evening courts, which had remarkably reduced the number of pending cases before the court. The delegation, comprising office-bearers of various state bar councils and eminent lawyers from various states, met Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Admiring the initiative of the evening courts, Mr Sinha said Gujarat has really created better legal infrastructural facilities for justice delivery system. Expressing his resolve for achieving the goal of zero pendency, Mr Modi said because of the constructive and positive response from the justice delivery system, burden of pending cases has been reduced. The evening courts have remained successful in reducing the burden of pending cases, he added. The Chief Minister briefed them about the Digital Law Library and Bar Law Library, education imparted at Gujarat Law University in drafting government laws, training facilities for the judges and educational facilities offered to the judges at Forensic Science University. The members also welcomed the state’s pioneering legislative move of making voting mandatory in local body’s elections and sought details from the Chief Minister about Mandatory Voting and Provision of Negative Voting. Mr Modi said the mandatory voting would help strengthen the rights of the voters. He added that political parties would have to select good candidates in order to further consolidate the ideals of democracy.

If you people Give Chance to Abu Salem or Dawood Ibrahim to be a CM of a state even they will do all efforts to hide their criminal face...A criminal is a Criminal and nothing else... Modi is an accused of Genocide and will remain the same....

I feel that instead of tarnishing the image of Gujarat as a most modern and progressive State in India today, all progressive thinking citizens and their bodies like the Indian Bar Council must make a special drive to educate the people of this country about the excellent works done by the Government of Gujarat over the last several years. In fact, it is high time for the other State Governments in India to depute their policy makers to Gujarat to get educated themselves as to how they can frame and implement people friendly schemes which are beneficial to the poor and down-trodden ones of the socieity. Let there be unbiased evaluation of good works done and progress made by Gujarat. With best wishes from: A.A. JOSE, BARODA, GUJARAT.

I personally consider Mr. Modi as the best chief minister and standing on his own fee; besides taking the State forward. Even our apex court is getting prejudiced his handling of communal riots; judiciary has to realize and accept idealism has no place in the present world. Our judiciary is a standing example of idealism and failed in the ultimate to deliver results either in terms of quality and time. Why not our apex court start with evening benches and set an example. I think our apex court should stop preaching and start practicing, in the larger interests of judiciary.
