Wrong survey number

Dear  Experts ,

A land registered with wrong Survey Number (clerically old Survey Number of the property is registered ) , properties 4 direction details are very clear , revenue and Village officer records are clear , how can i rectify this error? 

Regarding this we already spoke to the person who sold the land to us , he is expecting huge amount for rectifying that error .. 

Please advice me, is there any other way other than the above mentioned way to rectify the error..
