I founded an NGO and worked in it for 14 months. All the related documents with the NGO are with me. Now I am an MBA student sitting for campus placements. Since, this was not a 'paid or salaried' tenure, can this be counted as work experience by corporates/other organizations?

This can be shown as without any remuneration.
The next employer may not allow you to be any other organization while in employment.
Therefore it shall be appropriate to obtain approval in writing to remain a founder or in the governing body of the NGO.
