Witness in a fruad case

One of my colleague is a witness in a fruad case (a scam in office, an amount of Rs.1.5 crores scam)  which is handed over to CBI.  Can he request CBI to delet his name as witness.

If he is a witness, the CBI won't delete his name without any good reason. If he has no information about the alleged scam then he should tell the investigating officials about it and they will decide whether his name should be deleted or not. He should co-operate with the investigating agency and come in the court for testimony whenever he receives the witness summons from the court during the trial of the case.

Why he wants his name to be deleted.
