My wife has given a complain in police station for 498a after 5 years of desertion.

Is AB necessary to take for precaution?

yes, move an application in a court of session for anticipatory bail forthwith.

for prevent of arrest u can get an anticipatory bail from court of sessions, so u can move a file U/S of CrPC 439 and get an anticipatory bail .
