there are two types of stamp papers.

1. judicial 

2. non - judicial.

judicial papers are used in writing suits and for paying court fee in stamps so are known as judicial stamps, while as;

non - judicial stamps are used for writing of all types of deeds such as partnership deed, sale deed, affidavits, and all sorts of documents written in courts.

this division is created by the treasury to know about the income generated by the state on such activity. state has to spend huge sums on administration of justice in courts, tribunals and other foras. so taxes must be garnered for the purpose.
