What is punishment for rape which is not rape under law?

37 years ago a young woman, a staff nurse, at KEM Hospital, Mumbai, who may have been dreaming of a Happy Married Life, was raped by a ward boy. Probably it was not rape under IPC[I don't know exactly] because it was sodomy.

The lady is in a semiconscious state ever since. Recently Supreme Court refused permission for mercy killing of the lady.

The ward boy was tried for attempted murder and not rape. He was sentenced to 7 years in prison. He completed his prison term and is supposed to be working in a hospital in Delhi. I do not know whether he repents or has reformed. In any case he cannot be punished again, whatever may happen to the lady, who has been condemned for life.

What do the Forum members think of this?

I have attached newspaper cuttings regarding the case.

Yes I agree with you . The person committing such crime should be punished in the same manner.

JUST AS " AN Eye for an eye" .

There has to be some change in our law system only then such crimes can be deterred.
