What is oral evidence, prior to examination in cheif

want to know, what is 'oral' evidence, which is to be taken of the petitioner,  and after that examination in chief will be taken. what is the significance of oral evidence. and is that evidence considered truth, just because it is 'oral' evidence?

Evidence means and includes all statements which the Court permits or requires to be made before it by witnesses, in relation to matters of fact under inquiry, such statements are called oral evidence.
