I am working in a private engineering college as assistant professor. For the past three years, there is no increment in salary and also there is no vacation leave offered as in other colleges. now after the chennai floods, the ,management has deducted two days salary from us without any pre-intimation or acknowledgement. I need to know whether their actions are legal. Also i want to know the laws and rules governing the safety of a faculty. please help,

Has this deduction been shown in salary slip?
Teachers are not covered by def. of 'Workman' as in ID Act.
There are various forums of united teachers.
The service rules advocated by Univ. etc may be referred to.
